What are they made of? The most common types of materials used to make pot racks are wood, stainless steel, copper and wrought iron. Some other metals sometimes used are nickel and aluminum. Stainless steel and copper are very popular because they are shiny and compliment many types of metal cookware. Wood works well because it can be stained to match the kitchen woodwork. Wrought iron is popular due to its rustic charm and durability. It too, can be finished to match the décor of any kitchen.
They both thought that a pot rack was a wonderful idea, but neither one of them knew much about pot racks. I suggested that after we were finished with our grocery shopping, that I would drop by their house later in the afternoon with my notebook computer and show them what their options are when it come to kitchen pot racks.
Of course, pot racks are a display of your collection. Before you purchase one, you will have to consider the number of pieces in your pots and pans collection. Will you be using the pot racks for all of them? Or just the ones that you use on a regular basis? You do not wan to purchase large pot racks to display only a select few pieces. It will look like you are lacking cookware. Consequently, you do not want to underestimate the size of pot racks and end up having not enough room for all of your pots and pans and making them look crowded and cluttered.
The idea of hanging cookery pots in the kitchen may have originated from the 17th century practice of using an arrangement of links and hooks or trammels to suspend, raise or lower cooking pots in a fireplace to control cooking temperatures.
So now I explained to them that depending on what purpose was intended for the pot rack, you could buy a basic rack with no frills or you could go with an extremely artful pot rack that will be an attention grabbing piece of craftsmanship. Depending on what you are looking for, the price range of pot racks goes from low to high and everything in between.
Then the stylishly decorative and practical hanging or wall mounted pot rack might just be the storage space solution and energy saving kitchen device for you.
