When choosing kitchen storage, specifically for the new home owner, there are two general types of ideas - the kinds of storage that are appropriate and needed in just about any kitchen, and those more suited to the individual kitchen and personalities of the owner. If you know the owner well, and have seen the new home (or pictures of the new home is kitchen), then consider a gift that specifically suits that kitchen. For example, you may have seen the kitchen, and noticed that it is small, and low on drawer and cupboard storage.
If it is storage space, not floor space, that is the problem, the addition of a kitchen island is relatively quick and easy and can solve all your storage problems instantly. There are many different styles you can choose, from the most basic kitchen islands with just a few cupboards underneath to really rather sophisticated ones that have their own small sink. Another advantage of adding a new kitchen island is that it can also often do double duty as a casual dining area without gobbling up too much extra square footage.
Appliance garages have also become very popular in recent years, as home owners strive to keep blenders, mixers, juicers and more covered and out of sight. Plastic storage cereal boxes are an excellent gift, keeping cereals fresh and organized, their transparency enabling the breakfast eater to easily see which cereal is stored inside.
Kitchen storage containers solve the problem of kitchen clutter. The kitchen is the place people gravitate to. This is where we cook, eat, have an afternoon cup of tea, play board games and do homework. Because of this, it is also the room with the most clutter. While a lot of items have a home outside of the kitchen, packaged foods belong here and that is where the real clutter begins.
A regular knife block will keep your knives organized and safe without letting them rub against each other, but they be left on the counter top which adds to a feeling of clutter in your kitchen. If you want storage for your knives off your countertops you might want to consider either an under the counter knife block or an indrawer knife organizer.
These are storage spaces that are built deep inside and there is always a difficulty in accessing the required items from them. In order to circumvent this difficulty, the lower cabinets should have sliding drawers, cabinets which are at eye level can have layered stacking shelves and the top cabinets can have pull-down racks. All items should be kept in appropriate kitchen storage bins. It is better to keep the most frequently required items at front rows.
