For a larger kitchen, you have more options. The same organization solutions used in a small kitchen can be used, but you also get the chance to upgrade to bigger storage. A movable butcher-block island offers a convenient workstation as well as mass amounts of kitchen storage underneath it.
By doing something as simple as installing dish rail to the forward edge of the upper cabinet tops, you provide a defined, aesthetically pleasing storage area for the likes of that fancy dinnerware you have used once in the last year, the larger pieces of cookware that also have not seen action since the last holiday. Storing larger, seldom used pieces overhead clears more concealed storage space for some of the items that clutter your counter space. Remember that sandwich maker; there you go, out of sight. Note, keep a balanced and visually appealing amount of items overhead, do not defeat your progress by simply shuffling the jumble from below overhead.
Kitchen countertops unwittingly turn into clutter areas leaving the cook with very little space for doing what he does best and that is -cooking! Leave sufficient space for cooking preparation and the actual cooking and keep that space free at all times. Allot specific areas on the countertop for certain kitchen equipment like the countertop mini fryer, tilting pan etc. Anything that will not be required at frequent intervals should not occupy space on the countertop.
Because of this, it is also the room with the most clutter. While a lot of items have a home outside of the kitchen, packaged foods belong here and that is where the real clutter begins. Packaged foods come in different shapes and sizes and, no matter how neatly you place them on a shelf, they eventually topple over. On top of that, once they are opened, you can never close them as securely as you wish to.
If your kitchen is more than a little cramped and cluttered and you are not quite ready to call in a kitchen remodeling team, there are a few simple tweaks you can make that will free up some precious storage space quickly and easily.
Sponges, scrubbers and utensil soap should be stored by the side of the sink. Soap can be used through a pump dispenser; this adds to the cleanliness of the place.
