If you have taken the time to sort out your belongings and you still find you do not have enough space, it could be blamed on inefficient cabinet structure and a poorly designed kitchen layout. There is not much to do in that case besides remodel your kitchen and install new kitchen storage cabinets.
One of the easiest and most practical kitchen storage solutions for knives is an indrawer knife organizer. I like this solution because there is no installation or hardware required. You just put it in an empty drawer, put your knives in and you are done. Everything is organized, safe and hidden. There is no more clutter on your countertop and your knives are easily within reach.
When choosing kitchen storage, specifically for the new home owner, there are two general types of ideas - the kinds of storage that are appropriate and needed in just about any kitchen, and those more suited to the individual kitchen and personalities of the owner. If you know the owner well, and have seen the new home (or pictures of the new home is kitchen), then consider a gift that specifically suits that kitchen. For example, you may have seen the kitchen, and noticed that it is small, and low on drawer and cupboard storage.
Is there such a thing as too much kitchen storage space? The obvious answer is no and that no is multiplied by many numbers if you have a house that is small as it is.

For a few bucks and some sweat on your part, you can buy and install a Lazy Susan in each corner cabinet in your kitchen. A Lazy Susan will have two or three levels and will spin all the way around 360 degrees so that you can actually store a good deal more than the regular corner shelves that are typically installed in most home is corner cabinets.
For something a little different, consider a 3-tiered basket to hold things like fruit; apples oranges and tangerines would fit well in the different sizes and add a splash of color to the kitchen. Consider holding potatoes, onions and garlic in another. Hang one near the mugs to hold tea bags, hot chocolate packs and bags of coffee.
